Under the Agnipath scheme the Indian Army enrols Agniveers for four years in General Duty, Technical, Clerk / Store Keeper Technical and Tradesmen categories. Selection is an online Common Entrance Exam followed by a recruitment rally with physical tests and a medical.

Age is counted as on the birth-date window in the notice (recruiting year 2027: born 1 July 2005 to 1 July 2009).
The Army Recruiting Office notices invite unmarried men from their districts. Women apply for Agniveer General Duty (Women Military Police), which had its own CEE sessions in June 2026.
Only unmarried candidates can be enrolled, and they must not marry during the four years.
You can apply for up to two Agniveer categories; each needs its own application and CEE.
Minimum height is 170 cm for General Duty, Technical and Tradesmen and 162 cm for Clerk / Store Keeper Technical, with region-wise relaxations. There is no category-wise age relaxation.

The 9 ft ditch and zig-zag balance are qualifying. The Army can change run timings and marks before a rally; check joinindianarmy.nic.in. Bonus marks are given for NCC certificates (up to 25), sports and sons of servicemen, and to Technical candidates for ITI or diploma (up to 50).

Approximate monthly package from the notice. 30% goes into the Agniveer Corpus Fund and the Government adds the same amount; after four years the one-time Seva Nidhi is about ₹10.04 lakh excluding interest. There is no gratuity or pension. Risk and hardship, dress and travel allowances are extra.

What is the age limit for Army Agniveer?
17½ to 22 years. For recruiting year 2027, candidates born between 1 July 2005 and 1 July 2009 could apply. There is no category-wise relaxation.
What qualification is needed for Agniveer General Duty?
Class 10 with 45% in aggregate and at least 33% in each of five basic subjects. Indian Gorkhas need a simple 10th pass.
What is the Agniveer salary?
The notice gives an Agniveer package of about ₹30,000 a month in the first year, ₹33,000 in the second, ₹36,500 in the third and ₹40,000 in the fourth. 30% goes into a corpus fund and the Government adds an equal amount; the Seva Nidhi after four years is about ₹10.04 lakh excluding interest.
How long is Agniveer service?
Four years under the Army Act 1950. After that, up to 25% of each batch can be enrolled in the regular cadre, based on performance and the Army’s needs.
What is the running test in the Agniveer rally?
A 1.6 km run: up to 5 min 30 s earns 60 marks, and the marks drop to 24 for 6 min 1 s to 6 min 15 s. Pull-ups earn 16 to 40 marks for 6 to 10. The 9 ft ditch and zig-zag balance must be cleared.
Can women join as Army Agniveer?
Yes, in Agniveer General Duty (Women Military Police). The 2026 CEE schedule on joinindianarmy.nic.in included sessions for it. The district-wise notices for the other categories invite unmarried men.
When is the next Army Agniveer exam?
The CEE for recruiting year 2027 was held in June 2026 after registration from 13 February to 1 April 2026. The notice for the next recruiting year has not been published yet.
