Your diploma or degree decides your exam group for CBT-2: Mechanical & Allied, Electrical & Allied, Electronics & Allied, Civil & Allied, or CMA.
You must hold the qualification by the closing date, 13 September 2026.

The section split is indicative. Scribe-eligible candidates get 120 minutes for CBT-1 and 160 for CBT-2. Minimum marks to qualify: UR and EWS 40%, OBC 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%. CBT-1 marks are used only to shortlist for CBT-2.

How many vacancies are there in RRB JE 2026?
4,029 under CEN 04/2026. The notice listed 3,993; Corrigendum-1 of 18 August 2026 added 35 Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant posts and one Junior Engineer post. The previous notice, CEN 05/2025, had 2,569.
Can B.Tech graduates apply for RRB JE?
Yes. The prescribed qualification is a three-year engineering diploma in the post’s discipline, and the notice accepts higher qualifications such as B.E./B.Tech in the same discipline in its place. Depot Material Superintendent needs a diploma in any engineering discipline.
What is the age limit for RRB JE 2026?
18 to 33 years as on 1 January 2027. OBC candidates get 3 more years, SC and ST 5, and PwBD 10, 13 or 15 by category.
Is there negative marking in RRB JE?
Yes. One third of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer in both CBT-1 and CBT-2.
Is a calculator allowed in RRB JE?
Not your own. A virtual calculator is shown on screen during CBT-2 only.
When is the RRB JE 2026 exam?
Applications closed on 13 September 2026; fee payment was open until 15 September. RRB will announce the CBT dates on its websites.
