SSC CGL frequently asked questions
What is the qualification for SSC CGL?
A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Junior Statistical Officer also needs Mathematics in 12th with at least 60% marks, or Statistics as a subject in graduation.
What is the age limit for SSC CGL?
It depends on the post: 18–27, 18–30, 20–30 or 18–32 years, counted as on 1 August of the exam year. OBC candidates get 3 extra years and SC/ST candidates get 5.
Is there negative marking in SSC CGL?
Yes. Tier 1 deducts 0.50 marks per wrong answer. Tier 2 Paper I deducts 1 mark, and Papers II and III deduct 0.50.
Are Tier 1 marks counted in the final merit?
No. Tier 1 is qualifying; the final merit is based on Tier 2 marks.
Is there an interview in SSC CGL?
No. Selection is through Tier 1, Tier 2, skill tests for some posts and document verification.
