01Who conducts police Constable recruitment?

Each state runs its own: the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, the Central Selection Board of Constable in Bihar, Rajasthan Police Headquarters, and the MP Employees Selection Board. Delhi Police Constables are recruited through an exam held by the Staff Selection Commission.

02Can I apply for another state’s police recruitment?

Yes, in all five here. But reservation and age relaxation are only for the state’s own domiciles in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan and MP; reserved candidates from other states apply as General. Delhi Police is open to all India with the same relaxation for everyone.

03What qualification do I need to become a police Constable?

12th pass for UP Police, Bihar Police, Delhi Police and Rajasthan Police (Rajasthan also needs a CET Senior Secondary pass). MP Police Constable (GD) needs only 10th pass, or 8th pass for ST candidates.

04What is the age limit for police Constable?

UP 2025: men 18–25, women 18–28 on 1 July 2025, +5 for SC / ST / OBC of U.P. Bihar 01/2025: 18–25, up to 27, 28 or 30 by category. Delhi Police 2025: 18–25 on 1 July 2025, +3 OBC, +5 SC / ST. Rajasthan 2025: General men 18–24 on 1 January 2026. MP 2026: 18–33 on 6 October 2026, 38 for MP women and reserved men.

05What height do I need for police Constable?

For men in general categories: UP 168 cm, Bihar 165 cm, Delhi 170 cm, Rajasthan 168 cm, MP 168 cm. For women: UP 152 cm, Bihar 155 cm, Delhi 157 cm, Rajasthan 152 cm, MP 155 cm. ST and some other groups have lower standards; each exam page lists them.

06How long is the police running test?

It differs a lot. UP: men 4.8 km in 25 minutes, women 2.4 km in 14 minutes. Rajasthan: 5 km, men 25 minutes, women 35. Delhi: 1,600 m, men up to 30 years in 6 minutes, women in 8. Bihar: men 1.6 km within 6 minutes, women 1 km within 5, with marks for speed. MP: 800 m with marks for speed, plus long jump and shot put.

07Do physical test marks count in the merit?

In Bihar the merit list is made only on PET marks; the written exam just qualifies you. In MP, PET marks (out of 100) are added to written marks. In UP, Delhi and Rajasthan the physical tests are qualifying and merit is on written marks (plus bonus marks for NCC and similar in Delhi and Rajasthan).

08Is there negative marking in police Constable exams?

Delhi Police deducts 0.25 marks per wrong answer and Rajasthan one quarter of a question’s marks. MP has no negative marking. The UP and Bihar notices do not mention negative marking.

09What is the salary of a police Constable?

UP, Bihar and Delhi Police Constables are at Pay Level 3 (₹21,700–₹69,100). MP Constable (GD) is on the ₹19,500–₹62,000 scale, with a stipend in the first three years. Rajasthan pays a fixed ₹14,600 a month for two years of probation, then Pay Matrix Level 5. Allowances are extra.

10Which police recruitment is open or coming up next?

MP Police Constable (GD) 2026 applications run from 22 September to 6 October 2026, with the written exam from 19 November 2026. Delhi Police has scheduled the PE&MT for remaining Constable (Executive) candidates from 18 to 26 September 2026. UPPRPB has not yet announced PET dates for the 2025 recruitment.

11Are SSC GD and SSC CPO police exams too?

Yes. SSC GD Constable recruits 10th pass candidates into the central armed police forces, and SSC CPO recruits graduates as Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police and the CAPFs. Both have their own pages in the SSC section.
