Age is counted as on 1 August (minimum age on 1 Aug 2025, maximum age on 1 Aug 2023 for Advt. 01/2025).
For Advt. 01/2025 the minimum age was counted on 1 August 2025 and the maximum age on 1 August 2023.
Candidates from any state can apply, but caste reservation is only for domiciles of Bihar. Out-of-state candidates apply as General; out-of-state women get only the women’s horizontal reservation under General.
35% of posts in each category are reserved for women. Up to 50% of posts in each category go to trained home guards of Bihar.
Men need a height of 165 cm (General and BC), 160 cm (EBC, SC, ST); women 155 cm and at least 48 kg. Men’s chest: 81 / 86 cm (General, BC, EBC), 79 / 84 cm (SC, ST).
The provisions for persons with disabilities under the RPwD Act 2016 do not apply to Constable recruitment in Bihar Police.

Full run marks: men under 5 minutes, women under 4 minutes. Shot put full marks above 20 ft (men) or 16 ft (women); high jump full marks at 5 ft (men) or 4 ft (women). Candidates scoring below 30% in the written exam fail. About 5 times the posts in each category are called to the PET. Transgender candidates follow the women’s standards.

19,838 (Advt. No. 01/2025): 7,935 General, 1,983 EWS, 3,174 SC, 199 ST, 3,571 EBC, 2,381 BC (including 53 for transgender candidates) and 595 for BC women. The final result of 27 May 2026 selected 19,838 candidates.
What is the age limit for Bihar Police Constable?
18 to 25 for General. BC and EBC men up to 27, BC and EBC women up to 28, SC and ST candidates up to 30. Home guards get 5 more years. Only Bihar domiciles get category relaxation.
Does the written exam count in the final merit?
No. The written exam (100 marks, 30% to pass) only shortlists about 5 times the posts for the PET. The merit list is made on the total marks of the run, shot put and high jump.
